Rangers’ home recovery in vain

RUGBY: SADDLEWORTH Rangers found the going a little too tough at home to Leigh East in the NCL Premier Division.

The 42-30 home reverse leaves the club propping up the rest of the division and facing a major task in preserving their status.

The visitors went up to the tune of four converted tries, scored by Danny Kilshaw, Keiran Dainty and Lyndon Robertson (two). Kerrod Selmes added the goals.

Dave Stanley, Ben Wood and Steven Kiss hit back for Rangers and with Kiel Lancashire converting all three, at the hour mark Easts’ lead was only 24-18.

But three tries in 11 minutes from Alex Robson (two) and Selmes, who ended up with seven conversions from as many attempts, meant that Saddleworth’s answer through Ethan Langhorn and Jack Holden, allied with Lancashire's fourth and fifth goals, were in vain.
