GOLF:
NORTH Manchester ‘A’ had been enjoying a smooth passage to the play-offs, but suffered a blow by losing 6-2 at West Division rivals Denton.
The gap between the pair has been closed to four points and with Dukinfield now only a point adrift after a 6-2 home victory over Stamford, it is all to play for with two games left in the bid for the top two play-off spots.
In the East Division, leaders Werneth were washed out at Crompton and Royton and replay the game tomorrow, but they will have been pleased to see Fairfield restricted to a narrow 5-3 win at home to Saddleworth, while Brookdale and Ashton drew.
Werneth were the big movers in the ‘B’ Section as they beat East leaders Crompton and Royton 8-0 to establish a four-point advantage at the top.
Crompton and Royton actually slipped to third after Ashton beat Brookdale 6-2 to set up another tense finish.
The most clear-cut division is the ‘B’ West with Blackley still six points after the top three all won.
