AFTER winning the star-studded Blundells Open, beating full-time angler Kieran Rich, Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines Shaw) moved on to the Chadderton Mill AC evening match and dominated with 93lb 12oz.

The massive catch was made up of 30lb of ide taken on long pole and maggot before a switch to paste down the edge accounted for 10 decent carp.

Paul Hill was runner-up with another cracking find, weighing in at 81lb 12oz.

I TOOK part in the open match on the Egmont Street length of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in Mossley and had a bit of an up-and-down day. I bagged a few small fish caught on squatt, with a final 1lb 11oz tally.

But I also lost two big fish which snagged me right in the boat channel.

Martin Taylor (Trabucco Halifax) won the match from the next peg with 2lb 13oz of small fish taken on squatt and caster, beating organiser John Edwards into second. Edwards had a skimmer and some roach taken on bread punch and weighing 2lb 7oz.

Practice sessions for the upcoming national on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal produced some good nets. Come the day of the event I’m pretty sure it will be hard going, and with some good teams in this match just to get a top 10 placing would be an achievement. We have a good squad and feel we are getting there. The match is on July 28.

CONRAD Taylor claimed victory in the Diggle AC match on Tanners Dam, with pole and paste at 13 metres netting him two carp for 19lb 11oz. Second was Martin Taylor (Trabucco Halifax) with caster and pellet at four and 11 metres tempting 11lb 9oz of mainly silvers and skimmers.

THE Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake was won by one of the best anglers in the area, Steve Clegg (Saints). He used pole and maggot at 10 metres and caught a few tiny barbell as well roach and chub to weigh in 22lb 1oz.

Peter Hill was second with a 16lb 9oz catch comprising 20 chub as well as small roach and perch which fell to maggot fished at 14 metres.

BOB Harrison normally uses pellet but a switch to maggot at nine metres paid off for him as he took first place in the Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake. His 12lb 11oz net included chub weighing 1lb 8oz and roach.

Darren Webb was second thanks to an 11lb 10oz catch.

DEAN Pickering led the way in the Monarch AC evening match on club water. His 27lb 9oz of chub and roach fell to long pole, caster and chopped worm, beating last week’s winner Dave Ireland into second.

Ireland’s 26lb 1oz net was mainly made up of of ide and skimmers. John Clare took third courtesy of 15lb 14oz of carp and skimmers falling to sweetcorn.
