Howard reaches semi-final

RUNNING:
OLDHAM and Royton Harrier Adam Howard roared his way into the semi-final of the English Schools Championships.
Competing in the inter-boys 800 metres category for Greater Manchester, Howard finished his heat in 2:00.46. He ran 2:02.98 in the semi-final, failing to reach the final.
Junior boys 800m action saw fellow Harrier Christopher Brown bag fifth place in 2:05.5. Emma Peters recorded a personal best 4:37.5 as she came fifth in the senior girls’ 1,500m final.
On the roads, five Oldham and Royton runners headed to Rochdale for the 10k race at Springfield Park.
Tony Hart led the team home in 43:24 over the tough hilly course.
