SKIPPER Grant Jones guided Delph to the Romida Sykes Cup final before declaring: "We’re back."
After bowling out opponents Hoylandswaine for 135, hosts Delph clinched semi-final victory by reaching their goal for the loss of four wickets.
It was the perfect tonic after a shaky Drakes Huddersfield Premiership campaign, summed up 24 hours earlier with a last-over defeat to Hoylandswaine, who hit their target of 225 with two balls remaining.
But Delph got the last laugh with sweet cup revenge and face Shepley in the final on August 12 at Honley.
For Delph, it will be a chance to put to bed a long-term bugbear. Four appearances in the final of this tournament havel ended in defeat.
Jones added: "The only way to have another chance to end the jinx was to reach the final, and we have..
"It would be wonderful to be the Delph side who finally ended the Sykes Cup hoodoo and we believe we have a good chance of winning,”
WOODHOUSES eased to victory at Irlam in Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One.
Nick Hardman claimed seven for 34 as the hosts were dismissed for 114.
Woodhouses reached their target without losing a wicket.
Josh Tolley made 54 not out and Nick Doyle added an unbeaten 51.
