Abbas delivers for dominant Werneth

WERNETH professional Hasnain Abbas made a match-winning 93 as the Coppice outfit earned local bragging rights with a comprehensive Lake Garage CLL derby victory over Crompton.

Taking first guard, Werneth amassed 221 before being dismissed, Abbas leading the way with his excellent knock and Danny Taylor taking four for 43 and Ryan Mayes three for 53.

Chasing a big total, Crompton needed to build partnerships, but none of any significance were forthcoming and they were bowled out for 144,.

Joe Taylor, with four for 28, was the main thorn in Crompton's side.



ROYTON made it back-to-back league victories with a 55-runs home success against Radcliffe.

They looked to be in trouble after being dismissed for 147, Ben Johnson taking five for 38, but they fought back in style by skittling Radcliffe for a meagre 92.



OLDHAM suffered a heavy defeat at Middleton, whose prolific batsmen clicked at Towncroft.

Professional Michael Smith was unbeaten on 104 and Scott Stanworth scored 93 as Middleton piled up 245 for three.

Faced with such a daunting task, Oldham succumbed to 150 all out.



OLDHAM are out of the Lees Bitter Twenty20 Competition after a six-wicket defeat at Littleborough, who passed their total of 84 all out with relative ease.

Werneth reached the semi-finals last Thursday, while the two other quarter-finals will be held this week, weather permitting.

Heywood rearranged their home game against Monton and Weaste for tomorrow night as they could not field a full team on Friday, while the Clifton v Middleton match due to take place on Friday was washed out and will now be held one night this week.
