JUBILANT Jessica Fullalove won two silver medals and a bronze in the European Junior Championships in Antwerp.
The Hulme Grammar pupil (16) qualified for the competition in March courtesy of her impressive performance in the British Championships.
Proud parents Rod and Suzanne flew out to Belgium with their talented teenage daughter battle it out for Great Britain. They saw her take silver in 100 metres backstroke and 4x100m medley relay, and bronze in 50m backstroke.
Suzanne said: “We were over the moon to be there to witness Jessica’s excellent performance and she was jumping for joy. She enjoyed the individual performances but she got the biggest buzz out of the relay event, because they are a close-knit team.”
Jessica is back in Sheffield this week for the Youth National Championships, where she represents Manchester Aquatics. Next month the jet-set youngster heads to the Indianapolis for the US National Championships, where she will be on Great Britain duty.
SWIMMER Jamie Kelly is going for gold in September.
The 22 year old, who trains with Oldham Aquatics, is heading to Puerta Rico for the South American Special Olympics. Representing Great Britain, Jamie will compete in the 200m and 400m freestyle, and 200 breaststroke events. He is the current British record-holder in the 400m freestyle.
Jamie, who has learning difficulties, is a qualified swimming teacher with Rochdale Swimming Club and Redwood Special School in Rochdale. He also teaches down syndrome swimmers at Cheshire Penquins Club, based in Northwich.
