O’Neill pairs honours

BOWLS:

SPRINGBANK’S Paul Heap and Martin Hodson won the Saddleworth League’s Bryan O’Neill pairs and top prize of £120 at Hollinwood Cricket Club, beating John Thornley and Dave McCann (Mossley Park) 15-4 in the final.

The semi-finals were much closer with Thornley and McCann overcoming Ian Howarth and Dave Carpenter (Delph) 15-14, and Heap and Hodson defeating Barry Seville and Steve Mellor (Nimble Nook) 15-11.



THE Moorside Classic gets under way tonight (6.30pm) when two-times champion Darren Griffiths of Chadderton is on the bill.
