Revenge mission for Waterhead

WATERHEAD’S Paul Geener.
RUGBY:
WATERHEAD joint-coach Paul Geener and his players are on a revenge mission on Saturday when they entertain Elland in National Conference Division Two.
Geener, who runs the team alongside Jon Perks, watched in despair in the reverse fixture when his team let slip an 18-6 lead and lost 30-22.
Now third in the table with 20 points, Waterhead are four points behind leaders East Leeds and three adrift of Shaw Cross Sharks, who have played one more game.
Geener said: “We go into this fixture on the back of two very positive performances, not least the 130-7 win against Normanton Knights a couple of weeks ago.
“Confidence is high and everyone is focused on putting the record straight after the defeat at their place. Elland played well in that game, but we just didn’t perform to the required level.”
Geener has been further boosted by the availability of virtually all of his squad.
Only Chris Charlesworth remains on the long-term absentee list. He suffered knee ligament damage and is currently working with physios.
