ROYTON dented the Lake Garage CLL title ambitions of reigning champions Norden and gave themselves a huge tonic at Woodhouse Lane on Saturday.

If further proof was needed that Alan Durose's side have got over their mid-season wobble, the evidence was here.

In a game reduced to 40 overs per side, they took first guard and made a respectable 176 despite Dexter Fitton's three for nine and three for 62 from professional Michael Price.

In-form Royton pro Mohammed Zaman Khan hit 52, while Alan Durose continued his productive spell with 40.

On a ground which is noted for providing quick runs, Norden must have fancied their chances, but Royton, and Zaman Khan in particular, had other ideas.

The other three teams from this area all lost.

OLDHAM bowled out Heywood for 112 at the Pollards, Hasiz Ul-Hassan collecting four for 16.

But even that lowly total proved beyond Oldham, dismissed for 83.

CROMPTON were equally disappointing with the bat at Radcliffe, where they lost by 101 runs despite bowling out their hosts for 147.

In reply, Crompton were blasted out for a paltry 46 as Steve Cheetham (five for 16) ran amok.

WERNETH failed to register three figures at home to Middleton.

Tom Hardman took five for 32 as the Coppice outfit were dismissed for 79, and despite skipper Matt Taylor's three for 39, Middleton reached their target for the loss of five wickets.
