Seville blitzes his way to victory

GOLF:
WERNETH golfer Mike Seville produced a scoring blitz to win the club’s Captain’s Day 36-hole major by an emphatic nine shots.
The eight handicapper scored 17 pars and a double bogey at the 14th in round one for a nett 62 and a two-shot lead.
Then, playing in the last three-ball of the day in round two, he scored a net 63 that included eagles at the par-four seventh and par-five eighth holes and a superb bogey five having had to reload after failing to find his drive at the 11th.
Mike put his good scores down to a determination to improve, having been left out of the club’s ‘A’ team in recent weeks.
Runner-up on the day was Adam Rowbotham who carded two 67s for a 134 total.
WERNETH captain Lee Rowbotham raised over £1,500 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice when he played 100 holes in a day at the Garden Suburb club.
Lee first teed up at 5am and completed his marathon by mid-afternoon.
He shot scores of 72, 77, 70, 77 and 72 with 37 for the final ten holes meaning he dropped only 22 shots in the 100-hole marathon.
His fastest round was his first whichwas completed in one hour, 35 minutes.
