Lees scoops top placing

ANGLING:

BERNARD Lees took first place in the latest Oldham Central AC match, fished on Cudmore’s Brewster Lake, with 16 metre pole and pellet accounting for 48lb 6oz of f1s to 3lb.

Paul Nield was second, with a margin of only a couple of fish making all the difference. The catch of 45lb 10oz, also including f1s to 2lb, was in a mixed bag that fell to caster and worm fished down the margins.

DAVE Machin finished top of the pile in the latest Diggle AC evening match, fished on Tanners Dam.

His catch of 20lb 4oz featured a double-figure carp and a few skimmers, all taken on paste at 13 metres.

Chris Butterworth and Martin Taylor tied for second

THE SADAS members match, fished on Eagle Mill Dam where the bream were on a feeding spree, was won by Brian Murphy.

Murphy caught both bream and skimmers to weigh in 22lb 2oz, beating Jeff Kenworthy into second with 17lb 8oz of skimmers and bream.

SADAS are running a members-only match on Eagle Mill on Sunday. The draw is 8.30am, with the match from 9.30am- 2.30pm. Tickets are £10 all-in on the day.

AIDEN Bordiak of Tight Lines Shaw continued his brilliant run with another win in the Chadderton Mill AC evening match, fished on club water.

Maggot and caster fished up in the water caught him plenty of ide, before a switch to paste down the side netted a half-dozen carp together weighing 54lb 2oz.

STEVE Clegg of Saints is dangerous whether it’s a gripper or a bagging session.

So it is no surprise that with a decent draw in Saturday's Medlock Bridge AC open match, fished on Strinesdale Reservoir, he netted a deserved win.

Fishing maggot up and down in the water, Clegg caught chub and roach for a level 28lb.

PETE Cunliffe took first place in Monday's Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake.

After a slow start, his caster fished at 12 metres started tempting roach and chub and he eventually weighed in at 12lb 10oz.

CAIRO AC have a limited number of memberships available at £10 and with Denshaw Vale solid with fish, they aren’t going to be around for long. Give John a call on (0161) 6651779 for further details.

IT TURNED out to be a good, profitable match for me and team-mate Paul Booth of Trabucco Halifax in the Stainforth and Keady Canal Championship.

Booth took second place, with 24lb 8oz of skimmers taken on the pole, while I managed to come third with 23lb 8oz of skimmers and bream that also fell to pole tactics.

It is the Second Division National on the same canal tomorrow. Hopefully we will get a good draw. Read next week's column to see how we got on.

DON'T forget to support the charity match that Darren Webb is running on the Park Lake on Sunday, which will raise funds for the Shaw family who lost their baby in the gas blast.

The café will be open and as well as proceeds from the match itself, there will be a bucket collection.
