THERE are no prizes for guessing the pick of this weekend’s fixtures in Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League Division One.
Leaders Uppermill hit the road to second-place Bamford Fieldhouse tomorrow.
The onus is on Paddy McKeown’s hosts to close the 15-point gap between the sides in order to keep their title bid on track.
A win for Alex Griffiths’ Uppermill outfit would send out a serious message in the race for honours.
The away outfit are looking to bounce back from the Twenty20 defeat they suffered at the hands of Moorside last time out.
Bamford go into the encounter on the back of a comfortable seven-wicket league win at Stayley.
At the other end of the table, second-from-bottom Austerlands, with 90 points to their name, entertain Friarmere, who are just one place and 14 points above them.
Sunday’s action sees Uppermill host an inconsistent Droylsden outfit at Leefields, while Bamford will be hopeful of picking up points when they hit the road to Friarmere.
Third-place Hollinwood are at home to Saddleworth, who occupy sixth position.
And in a real basement battle, bottom team Micklehurst, who have won just one match this season, will look to close the
27-point gap on visitors Austerlands at Castle Lane.
