CROMPTON hope to use yesterday's derby victory over Oldham as a springboard to better things in the rest of the Lake Garage CLL season.
Plenty of effort from players and officials ensured that the game finally went ahead at 4pm, and the 25 overs-per-side match produced an interesting clash.
Oldham will have been pleased with their 125 for eight. The hosts were always slightly ahead of the run rate in reply and reached their total with an over and a half to spare, Dave Roberts top scoring with 38.
WERNETH suffererd a depressing defeat at Unsworth, who bowled out their visitors out for just 74 in a 20-over match, Jack O'Brien taking five for 31.
Unsworth reached their target for the loss of only two wickets.
ROYTON'S home game against Clifton was called off without a ball being bowled following the morning downpours.
