LAST-MINUTE pairing Ann Fallows, lady captain of North Manchester, and Tracy Capal won the Crompton and Royton Ladies Open Four-ball Rose Bowl with 38 points.
Eileen McCall’s late husband Trevor Turner and Les Affleck presented the trophy to the women’s section of the club when they were captain and vice-captain in 1981.
Eileen travels down from Scotland to present the prizes each year and to play in the coveted competition.
She was due to partner Ann, but had to withdraw because she was recovering from pneumonia. In stepped Tracy, of Manchester, and she and Ann formed a successful partnership.
Eileen was still present to hand over the trophies.
The runners-up, on a card play-off with 33 points, were last year’s victorious duo from Crompton and Royton, Andrea Lowe and Julie Barton.
Meanwhile, the Centenary Trophy at Crompton and Royton went to Linda Melling (99-30-69), from Julie Barton (96-25-71).
