Harrington takes prize

GOLF:
MICHAEL Harrington came out on top in the Saddleworth Club Championship.
He posted rounds of 72 and 79 for a 151 total, a shot clear of Martin Orme (74+78=152), with Mark Orme (78 + 76=154) back in third place.
In the Captain’s Prize at Saddleworth, another major competition, victory went to Marcus Wray on card play-off.
He carded a 75-6-69 in round one, followed by 78-5-73 for a 142.
STAMFORD had two reasons to celebrate in the Sandiway Junior Masters, held at Sandiway, Cheshire.
James Kempster (13) won his age group — he recorded the third-best gross score overall — and Archie Palmer (12) emerged victorious in his age category.
