OLDHAM’S Jessica Fullalove is officially Britain’s fastest 100 metres backstroke swimmer in her age group, after claiming a gold medal and three silvers in the National Youth Championships.
Representing Manchester Aquatics, the Hulme Grammar student (16) broke the British record in her winning performance at Ponds Forge in Sheffield, finishing in one minute 01.87 seconds.
Silvers were awarded in 200m backstroke, 4x100m medley relay and 4x200m freestyle relay.
It came hot on the heels of her three medal haul in the European Junior Championships in Antwerp.
Mum Suzanne said: “Jessica was in great form and it was a wonderful moment when she became champion. She was pleased to come away with four medals, especially after working so hard in training. She can’t wait for the next challenge.”
Fullalove flies out to Indianapolis this weekend for the US National Championships, where she will be swimming for Great Britain.
