CRICKET:
THE semi-finals of the John Willie Lees Wood Cup will be held on Sunday, weather permitting.
The ties were due to be held on July 1 but heavy rain prevented play.
Cup holders Middleton take on Rochdale at Towncroft, while Norden entertain Milnrow at Woodhouse Lane.
The final will be played at Middleton on Sunday week, August 12, the planned day of the Burton Cup final for second X1s.
The Burton Cup semi-finals, between Littleborough and Middleton and Heywood and Walsden, will also be held on Sunday, but a date for the final has still to be fixed.
MOORSIDE, hosts for Sunday’s Tanner Cup final showdown between Glodwick and Heyside, will also stage this season’s Per-Fit Windows Twenty20 Cup finals day on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27.
Turf Pit Lane was the venue for the culmination of the 2007 competition when a Brad Roach and Dion Taljard-inspired Shaw overcame Friarmere by 36 runs.
Friarmere are in this year’s last four, with their tie against favourites and last season’s beaten finalists Heyside locking horns at 1.30pm.
The day starts at 10.30am when Hollinwood, winners in 2008, meet home club Moorside.
The final is expected to get under way at 4.30pm.
