Hassan’s heroics rescue Oldham

PROFESSIONAL Hassan Sheheryar smashed a stunning century to rescue victory from the jaws of defeat in Oldham's must-win Lake Garage CLL fixture at Ashton.

Oldham collapsed to 37 for six, but Sheheryar hit 11 fours and five sixes in an unbeaten 112 which took Oldham to the relative riches of 184 for eight before rain started to fall.

Skipper Zafar Jatoi declared the Oldham innings with two overs remaining and Ashton, chasing a revised target of 102 off 20 overs, could make only 100 for nine as the visitors secured a vital victory.

ROYTON returned to winning ways at Unsworth thanks to a brilliant all-round performance from pro Mohammed Zaman Khan.

Khan hit a superb 91 in Royton's 184 for six, home pro Jonathan Fowler taking four for 76.

And Khan followed up with six for 30 as Unsworth were skittled for 138.

WERNETH'S woes continued at Clifton, who took first guard and made 223 with Adam Holt hitting 47 and visiting pro Hasnain Abbas taking four for 21,

After rain intervened, Werneth chased a revised target of 187 but were bowled out for just 136.

CROMPTON were demolished by Rochdale at Glebe Street in another rain-hit fixture.

Rochdale made 249 for four declared, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 102 from overseas amateur Byron Haycock and 81 from Werner Coatsee, the Enfield professional standing in for Sri Lankan Malinda Warnapura, who had gone home for an international game.

Following a downpour, Crompton were set a new target of 174, but were all out for 88.
