RUGBY:
WATERHEAD continued their North-West Counties League Division Two promotion push with a dominant 52-20 win at home to Featherstone Lions.
The victory was almost in the bag at half-time, inspired by the superb Mick Diveney, who kicked eight goals, pushing them to a 32-10 lead.
Waterhead’s try-scorers after half-time were Pat Toft, Pete Davies, Josh Brown and Nixon.
OLDHAM St Anne’s made the perfect start against Rochdale Mayfield with a try after 45 seconds.
But they were unable to maintain the momentum, slipping to a 28-14 defeat.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers’ bid to beat the drop suffered another setback as they went down 40-10 at home Siddal, who scored seven tries in the Premier Division encounter.
The hosts, who are bottom-of-the-table, were reduced to 12 men when prop Paul Rafferty was dismissed.
