OLDHAM angler Pete Humphries bagged the biggest and most prestigious win of his career by taking first place in the Kamasan final on West Midlands water, Barston Lakes.
It is for anglers who have accumulated 20 or more points throughout the season by winning or being placed in 50-peg or more open matches and is the most prominent title in Britain.
Humphries used pole and pellet at 12 metres for 75lb of f1s and skimmers. Mark Lucas is the only other Oldhamer to win the competition, back in 1997.
CHADDERTON Mill AC are running the Dave Slattery memorial series on their club water.
Anyone can enter, with the four qualifying matches all on Saturdays, starting tomorrow, followed by August 18 and 25, September 1.
CHADDERTON Mill AC let Cairo AC fish one of their Wednesday evening series of matches on the club water — and it turned out to be a cracker for Malc Taylor (Gilders).
He was first with ide up in the water on maggot and carp down the side on meat netting an impressive 57lb 8oz total. John Jones was next with 52lb 12oz.
PARK Lake open honours went to Steve Hall, with 22lb 9oz of skimmers and tench on worm and pellet.
Bob Harrison was the runner-up with 16lb of skimmers and bream on pellet over swimstim groundbait.
STEVE Hall won the last of the Medlock Bridge AC Monday night opens on the Park Lake. Using worm and pellet, he caught 17lb 1oz of skimmers. Pete Cuniffe was second with 12lb 13oz of hemp and caster, tempted by roach and skimmers.
AIDEN Bordiak (Tight Lines) landed the Chadderton Mill AC Thursday evening match on the club water.
Choosing ide up in the water, he had carp on paste down the edge for 97lb 10oz.
Paul Hill was second with a 70lb net also made up of ide and carp.
THE latest Lees and Hey AS match on Highfield Fisheries saw winner Dave Brace on 59lb of carp, ide and skimmers on maggot at six metres. Ben Martin, the runner-up, had 45lb 8oz on pellet and worm.
