RUGBY:
SADDLEWORTH Rangers saw their victory hopes at Wath Brow blown away by a whirlwind of second-half scoring, ultimately losing the contest 46-20.
The Hornets led 18-14 at half-time in Cumbria, giving hope that Emerson Jackman’s side — bottom of the National Conference League’s Premier Division — might come away with a first victory in five games.
But in the final quarter the home side ran in five tries to leave the visitors crushed.
IN DIVISION One, the fate of Oldham St Anne’s was little better as they lost 40-16 at home to Milford Marlins.
This was another game that was tight at half-time — Saints were down only 12-10.
But five tries after the break settled matters in the Marlins’ favour, leaving Chris Deakin’s side licking their wounds after a feisty battle.
