Joyce continues rich vein of form

GOLF:

JOYCE Adams landed her second major in as many weeks by triumphing in the Mr President’s competition at CROMPTON and ROYTON.

She posted a score of 197-52-145 to claim top honours in the two-round event. Second home was lady vice-vaptain Lynn Truelove on 172-16-156.

The first-day prize went to Madge Millett (95-25-70), with second-day spoils going to Roz Styles (98-23-75). Bernie Fitton won the EWGA on the second day with a score of 77-6-71

Meanwhile, Kathy Clinton, Jennifer Kenworthy, Noreen Nicholson and Audrey Whittaker made it through along with Bolton in the Bronze Inter-Club qualifier at Ellesmere. The final is at Huyton and Prescott.



SUSAN Whitaker, with a two-round score of 186-44-142, scooped the Lady Captain’s final at BROOKDALE. The runner-up was Joan Warren with 197-48-149, while Vicky Akin recorded the best gross of 183.

The first-day prize went to Val Brogan (101-30-71) and second-day honours to Wendy Oliver (100-27-73). Adele Keate claimed the best endeavour award with 220-60-160, while Kate Oliver was the nine-hole Stableford winner thanks to a 19-point haul.
