Trophy joy for red-hot Riley

ALL YOURS: Mark Riley receives the Centenary Trophy from Saddleworth captain Tim Edwards.
GOLF:
MARK Riley picked up his first Centenary Trophy - and a pocketed a few quid as well.
The two-handicapper, from Brookdale, shot a net 66 to claim victory by a shot at Saddleworth.
Riley (53) had a morning tee-time and instead of waiting for the final groups to come in, returned home to watch the USPGA Championship. He put a small bet on Rory McIlroy at 9-1 - which of course came in!
“I left my telephone number with the professional just in case, and I ended up getting a call from my nephew Adrian Buckley, who was last out, to say I’d won,” said Riley. “There are some famous names on the trophy and it is an honour to join them.
“I was close about 10 years ago when it was played at Oldham. I finished second to a guy who had a hole in one on the 16th and then birdied the 17th and 18th!”
A four-time District Championship winner, he is now targeting victory in the Chronicle Cup to
complete the set. Runner-up was Ian Cash (75-8-67), of Saddleworth.
