CRICKET: ENGLAND legends led by former captain Michael Vaughan will play at Royton in a fundraising match next Wednesday.
The likes of Vaughan, Devon Malcolm and Martin Bicknell feature in a NatWest Legends side in the latest NatWest Locals v Legends T20 Series, which sees ex-professionals take on community clubs across the UK to boost fund raising for NatWest CricketForce.
The match starts at 5.30pm, following a junior tournament.
Royton hope to make enough money from the game to pay for a new scorebox and nets. Some of the money raised will also go to the Shaw gas blast fund, for which the club has already raised £11,000.
Tony Spence, chairman of the Paddock outfit, said: “It would be fantastic to attract a couple of thousand people. It’s not every day a former Ashes-winning captain, Michael Vaughan, is in our midst.”
The NatWest team to face Royton will be Michael Vaughan (captain), Martin Bicknell, Richard Blakey, Neil Fairbrother, Mal Loye, Devon Malcolm, Paul Nixon, Min Patel, Chris Schofield, Gladstone Small and Alex Tudor.
