BOWLS:
CROMPTON ‘A’ retained the Saddleworth Bowling League’s Swallow Cup with victory over Royle at Royton Cricket Club.
In the last four, Crompton had six single-figure wins to secure an easy 199 to 124 success against Milnrow Memorial, while the powerful Springbank ‘A’ team suffered a shock 184-183 defeat at the Division Two side Royle Bowling Club.
Crompton gave Royle a 28 start in the final, but soon found themselves in front with three wins, before building up an unassailable lead.
Royle won the last two games, but it was too little too late by that stage.
THE women’s County semi-final tie against Yorkshire takes place on Sunday, with the home leg at Garswood Labour, Wigan, while the away match is at West Melton Bowling Club, Rotherham.
