GLODWICK suffered an agonising last-ball defeat to title challengers Bamford Fieldhouse in Versasteel Saddleworth and District League Division One.

Paid man Rehan Rafiq scored 63 as Glodwick were all out for 164.

In reply, skipper Paddy McKeown made 55 for Bamford on their way to 165 for seven, Imran Khan claiming three for 43.

Requiring two runs from the final two balls, it was all to play for.

JP Lee scored a single and, off the final delivery, Ammer Mirza hit Imran Khan for another solitary run to ensure victory.

Leaders Uppermill reaffirmed their title credentials with a win at Saddleworth.

The favourites raced to 211 for six.

And James Barron took six for 44 as the home outfit went for 159, Peter Skuse managing 52.

For Saddleworth, who were looking to bounce back from last week's loss to Moorside, it came as a serious blow, as a positive result would have aided their push for a top-five finish.

S Groblar recorded 80 as Moorside clocked up 263 for eight at Greenfield, before bowling out the hosts for 203.

Lee Warburton did the most damage with a return of seven for 106.

It was a comfortable day at the office for Heyside, who saw off strugglers Micklehurst for 120, Gerrie Snyman claiming five for 33.

Heyside strolled to victory for the loss of just one wicket, Ryan Barnes leading the way with an unbeaten 52.

And Stayley enjoyed an equally straightforward afternoon.
