Waterhead hold nerve

RUGBY:
WATERHEAD held on to third position in National Conference League Division Two after a 44-24 win at Crosfields following a rollercoaster contest.
Waterhead surrendered a 24-0 lead to find themselves pegged back to level terms by their plucky opponents.
A try and four goals by David Rolt and touchdowns from Phil Bannon, Chris Burgess and Dave Boden put Crosfields back in the match when it appeared the away outfit had been coasting to victory.
But Waterhead held their nerve and, after a couple of hairy moments, finished the closing quarter as the stronger team.
On the mark for the visitors were Darren Nixon with a hat-trick, Kieran Greenan, Peter Davies, Jack Chadwick and Matt Holland.
Michael Diveney added the extras on six occasions to help ensure the points went the way of the away side.
IN the Premier Division, Saddleworth Rangers’ home clash with Oulton Raiders was postponed on Saturday and takes place tomorrow, kicking off at 7.30pm.
