SEVEN more Lake Garage CLL fixtures will determine Royton’s Premier Division fate.
Having barged their way into the top eight – a finishing spot which would secure a place in next year’s elite division – Royton can’t afford to rest on their laurels.
With Wood Cup winners Middleton and resurgent Littleborough hot on their heels, there is no room for error for Alan Durose and his men.
And those above Royton, particularly Monton and Weaste and Clifton, will be casting anxious glances over their shoulders.
But Crompton, Werneth and Oldham have too much to do to secure places in the top flight for 2013.
WERNETH wicketkeeper Rob Shaw is in the CLL colts squad for the final of the Reader Inter-League Trophy against the Bolton League at Clifton CC on Monday (1pm).
HEYWOOD have won the toss to stage the Burton Cup final for second X1s against Middleton at Crimble on Bank Holiday Monday (1.15pm).
LANCASHIRE’S over-50 cricket team will take on Kent in the semi-finals of the National Cup in Blackpool on Sunday.
The team will be captained by former Crompton cricketer Alan Whiston, and also contains current Royton second-team players John Punchard and Barry Woodward, and former Oldham stalwart Mel Whittle.
