HEYSIDE hope to put the disappointment of last season’s Twenty20 Iain Johnston Trophy defeat behind them by winning the competition on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Versasteel Saddleworth and District League Division One outfit, currently fourth in the league table, go into the tournament as one of the favourites, alongside third-placed Moorside.
Nick Campbell’s team lost out to Saddleworth 12 months ago but, with the Well-i-Hole outfit not involved this time — the other contenders are Friarmere and Hollinwood — Heyside will fancy their chances this time.
Moorside, captained by Lloyd Kingston, host the eagerly-anticipated competition and, weather permitting, the action gets under way at 10am.
Kingston will be hoping home advantage goes in their favour and gives them an edge over the three other hopefuls.
Hollinwood are currently sixth, while third-from-bottom Friarmere are sure to welcome the distraction.
