Oldham RU in Plate exit

RUGBY UNION: OLDHAM RU suffered a 23-10 home defeat to Ruskin Park in the Lancashire Plate first round.
Guy Lovegreen’s side took the lead after 15 minutes through Jordan Green’s penalty goal, only for Park to respond with a converted try by Andrew Ceratty.
Oldham produced a fine touchdown when Ryan North capped a flowing team move, Green adding the extras.
Two penalties in first-half stoppage time handed the visitors an interval lead, slightly against the run of play.
Both sides defended well in the second period, but Park notched a try and penalty goal in the final five minutes. Oldham’s league campaign gets under way this weekend with a visit to De La Salle.
