RUGBY:
SADDLEWORTH Rangers managed to cling on for a 40-34 victory over Oulton Raiders which keeps alive the club's chances of avoiding relegation from the National Conference League Premier Division.
It was a nailbiting match as Rangers repelled a comeback from their fellow strugglers.
With three minutes to go, Emerson Jackman's side were down to 10 men with Matthew Fogarty and Jimmy Rogers in the sin-bin and Matt Bottom already sent off for an alleged head butt late in the first half.
First-half tries from Junior Brandford, Bottom and Jack Holden were added to by a Danny Attersall double and one each for Jack Bradbury and Paul Raftery after half-time.
Bradbury also kicked six goals for Saddleworth, who at one stage led 38-18.
Tommy Griffiths scored four tries for Oulton, who also crossed through Jamie Fields and Andy Williams. Sasch Brook kicked five goals.
