THAT’S OUT . . . Arshad Mahmood makes a desperate attempt to reach his crease.
THE traditional Bank Holiday rain put paid to the Per-Fit Windows Twenty20 Cup at Moorside virtually before it had begun.
On a ‘blink-and-you-miss-it’ day, only six overs were played — the first semi-final between the hosts and Hollinwood.
And there was no home comfort for the Turf Pit Lane outfit. Their opponents, who were on 28 for two when the bad weather intervened, won the bowl-out 2-1 to claim a place in the final.
The rain persisted, meaning the other last-four tie — Friarmere versus Heyside — could not go ahead, nor could the 4.30pm final.
The remaining action will be played on a date to be confirmed, with Friday the earliest possibility, weather permitting.
It was history repeated for the competition, as last year’s final at Heyside had to be shifted to a later date due to rain.
RAIN washed out any chance of play in the Lake Garage CLL’s Burton Cup final yesterday.
It will now be played, weather permitting, on Saturday at 1pm.
Heywood will entertain Middleton.
