Blackley the perfect hosts
Date published: 31 August 2012
GROUNDSTAFF at Blackley worked tirelessly to ensure the Manchester and District Society of Past Lady Golf Captain’s competition went ahead despite heavy rain.
And their efforts paid dividends as a field of 202 enjoyed a day’s golf.
Victory went to Ashton-under-Lyne pair Sue Barlow and Chris Bennett.
The runners-up were Pauline Givvons and Brenda Bellis, of Crompton and Royton.
Women members from the host club acted as spotters markers, and managed to stay cheerful in the face of the awful weather conditions.
