BRIAN Meadows was in dominant form in the open match on the Slattocks length of the Rochdale Canal.

He boasted a 10lb 5oz net, which featured roach, perch and skimmers on squatt fished across over groundbait.

Meadows was way ahead of travelling partner and co-organiser John Edwards, who used bread punch at 11 metres for 3lb 12oz of roach and small skimmers.

DARREN Webb bagged top spot in the latest Medlock Bridge AC match on the Park Lake with 17lb 8oz.

Using pellet at 11 metres, he netted decent skimmers every put-in. A better stamp of skimmer moved in late on, and Webb netted bream to 2lb 8oz.

Aiden Bordiak (Tight Lines) was second-best, with pellet at 11 metres enticing 24 skimmers for 13lb 9oz.

ALTHOUGH Steve Hall can’t attend the final of the Dave Slattery memorial series, he managed to win the penultimate qualifier.

Offering chopped worm and caster, he enticed mostly carp plus a few ide in a 66lb net.

Lee Humphries was second with his level 50lb catch, which included around 35lb of ide taken on caster out and in the shallow.

BOB Harrison was the winner of a Medlock Bridge AC open match on a revitalised Park Lake.

Drawn on peg 21, he employed red maggot at eight metres for two skimmers, plus lots of roach and perch for 15lb 15oz.

SIMON Walton landed the spoils in an open match on the Castleton to motorway length of the Rochdale Canal.

Fishing squatt over groundbait, he caught loads of small roach to weigh in 4lb 12oz.

Runner-up Peter Fairbrother caught a 4lb bream on red maggot in the first minute of the match, but added just a few smaller fish to finish with 4lb 5oz.

THE 10th and final round in the Cairo AC summer series on Denshaw Vale saw Mick Jewitt, of Tight Lines, take first place on the day and the series.

Using pole and pellet, Jewitt caught tench and roach to weigh in 5lb 12oz.

Malc Taylor (Gilders) was second with a 4lb 13oz mixed net falling to pole and maggot.

THERE was a good turn-out for Socials AC’s annual family fishing match. The match is fished by two family members on each peg, and victory went to eight-year-old Taylor Varley and dad Ashley, the pair weighing in 18lb 4oz.

Second was James Hazeldine (5) and granddad Larry with 10lb 2oz, followed by Charlotte Gale (8) and dad Andy with 8lb. The club would like to thanks Tight Lines for their sponsorship of the event.
