FOOTBALL:

AVRO roared to a clinical 10-1 win at Leigh Athletic in Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division.

The win came hot on the heels of confirmation that chairman Rob Fuller has become permanent team manager for a second time.

Fuller’s men were in unstoppable form — Kelvin White scored four goals, Alex Walker and Paul Booth added two apiece and Mike Stockdale and Mike Barnescott completed the rout.

A midweek derby showdown saw Avro draw 2-2 at Royton Town.

Springhead encountered mixed fortunes, suffering a second consecutive defeat at home to Old Alts before winning a nine-goal thriller at Monton.
