Woodhouses’ ‘cup hangover’

CRICKET:

WOODHOUSES skipper Mike Cassidy admits his side have suffered from a “cup hangover” this season in the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League.

Cassidy guided the team to Persimmon Village Cup glory at Lord’s last year.

But the loss of several key players and inconsistent form has seen Woodhouses’ current season peter out.

They are 11th in the table, four positions and eight points behind Sunday’s visitors to Medlock Road, Roe Green.



EIGHTH-PLACED Delph entertain Honley tomorrow in the Drakes Huddersfield Premiership.

The visitors are two places and two points ahead of Grant Jones’ side, who travel to mid-table Marsden 24 hours later.



There was no play in Failsworth Macedonia’s trip to Robinsons in Romida Sports North Manchester League, due to rain.

The bad weather also put paid to Royton thirds’ game at Littleborough Lakeside seconds in Division Two, after Royton had reached 65 for two.

Saddleworth thirds recorded 63 for nine, only for Littleborough Lakeside seconds to claim a nine-wicket win.

Division Three action saw Failsworth Macedonia seconds post 136 for nine before rain stopped play.

In Division Four, Springhead lost by two wickets to Bury thirds, who reached their target of 63 with a couple of wickets to spare.
