Crompton’s confidence sky high

CRICKET:
CONFIDENCE, self-belief and team spirit are the three key ingredients behind Crompton’s tremendous end-of-season form.

From looking like they would finish in the bottom three, Crompton are pushing for a final place half way up the table.

Four wins in five games - including three maximum-points hauls - have lifted Crompton to 11th.

And skipper Carl Taylor is hoping there is more to come.

He said: “I just think the team have found some self-belief.

“We have forgotten about finishing in the top eight and that seems to have taken off the pressure.

“We are also enjoying our cricket, confidence is high in the dressing room and there is a great team spirit.”

Crompton have two home fixtures this weekend, against Norden and Werneth.

Taylor has already started to look forward to next season – and his team planning has been given a lift with the news that current professional Simon Wright has indicated he will be playing at Crompton as an amateur.

“We are also pushing for a high-profile pro,” said Taylor.
