UPPERMILL face two major tests as they bid to stay in touch with leaders Bamford Fieldhouse in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
With only four games to go, there is everything to play for. But if Uppermill are to retain the title, they must beat two of the strongest teams in the competition.
First up tomorrow are fifth-placed Hollinwood.
The hosts beat Stayley last Sunday after being set a mammoth 293 for victory. It doesn’t get any easier for Uppermill 24 hours later; they welcome a rejuvenated Moorside to Leefields.
The visitors have an eye on the runners-up spot and victory on Sunday will help that.
Moorside also possess men in form, especially South African overseas amateur Francois Mostert and professional Stephan Grobler.
Uppermill struggled last weekend, bowled out for 87 in a crushing defeat by Glodwick. They needed determined knocks from pro Darren Shadford and Paul Thompson to put a match-winning total of 174 on the board at Shaw.
They have suffered setbacks before this season and managed to come back. They will need to show excellent powers of recovery again.
Bamford definitely won’t have it all their way at home to Saddleworth tomorrow, but Sunday’s task at Droylsden appears straightforward.
