Royton have no room for error

CRICKET:
IF ROYTON are to keep alive their hopes of a top-eight finish and a move into next season’s premier division they must win at least one game this weekend.
Four sets of CLL fixtures remain, with Royton in ninth spot, three points behind the two teams immediately above them.
Alan Durose’s men can ill-afford to lose ground on these clubs and leave their push until the final weekend of the season. Tomorrow’s trip to Radcliffe and Sunday’s to Rochdale are crucial.
Royton will be acutely aware that Middleton, one of the teams above them, face a winning weekend..
Tomorrow’s trip to bottom club Ashton is followed by one against second-from-bottom Oldham.
The other team above Royton, Monton and Weaste, could be vulnerable against two higher-place teams, Clifton tomorrow, and Milnrow. They have home advantage both days.
CROMPTON have picked up maximum points from their last three games, but to continue that run tomorrow they need to be at their best against reigning champions Norden.
Glebe Street hosts the only local derby of the weekend on Sunday when Werneth are the visitors.
Matt Taylor’s side finally showed something like their true form against Unsworth last weekend and warm up for Sunday’s showdown against Crompton with a tricky trip to Littleborough.
OLDHAM face a tough weekend despite having home advantage on both days.
Tomorrow sees champions-elect Walsden come to town, and that is followed by the visit of Middleton.
