CRICKET: HUMBLED for 87 against Glodwick six days earlier, Saddleworth League title hopefuls Uppermill got back on an even keel by dismantling Hollinwood for the same total

It was a rapid and much-needed return to form for Alex Griffiths’ side, who were in danger of letting Bamford build up an unassailable lead.

Micklehurst, managed just 81 at Shaw — professional Lundi Mbane took six for 23 — before succumbing to a nine-wicket defeat.

Leaders Bamford, despite half-centuries from Chris Schofield (79 not out) and paid man Grant Hodnett (50), were restricted to 198 for five at home to Saddleworth.

But Steven Howard’s visitors could only reach 113 for nine in reply as the home side’s bowlers turned the screw.

Pro Kamran Hussain, with 78, and overseas amateur Usman Malvi —seven for 47 — were at it again for Stayley in a 32-run win at Moorside, who saw their seven-game unbeaten run in the league come to an end.

Glodwick have won three of their last four fixtures, Friarmere the latest victims, the reliable Imran Asghar taking six for 61 in the 77-run victory.

Heyside, bowled out for 86 and 44 last weekend, got back to winning ways at Greenfield, scoring 160. Pro Gerrie Snyman’s six for 40 sent the hosts spiralling to 143 all out.

And 50 from Austerlands skipper Adam Young was in vain as his side lost by 42 runs against Droylsden.

This was after the Nursery Fields outfit had done the hard work by dismissing the visitors for 152.
