Oldham 66, Bury 14
RUGBY UNION: TEN tries, eight of them converted, produced a comprehensive first win of the season for Oldham in North Lancashire Division One.
The home side’s forwards laid the foundations for victory at a sun-drenched Manor Park.
Dominant in the scrum, the pack men also worked hard in open play, scoring seven of the tries.
Bury had speed in the three-quarters, but Oldham wingers Phil Conry and Martin Hamer put in some hard tackles.
Oldham made the perfect start with a try in the fifth minute.
Oldham scored a further five tries in the opening half for a 40-7 lead. Bury responded with a converted try of their own.
Massey completed his treble in the second period, with Phil Graham (two) and McEwan also on the board.
Oldham will look to build on this success when they go to Burnley on Saturday.
