GOLF:
CROMPTON and Royton Golf Club’s women’s section made a donation of £400 to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice with a charity Shotgun event held at the High Barn course.
JANE Antrobus, Bev Scholes, David Bailey and David Newman scored 81 Stableford points to win Oldham Golf Club’s mixed open.
They won a card play-off against runners-up Anne Rotchell, Chris Peirson, Lee Melia and Matthew Ratcliffe.
Third on 80 points were Jill Nolan, Julia Wilde, Neil Turner and Neil Whitehead.
SUE Oldham won the EWGA September Pendant at Blackley with a score of 77-8-69.
Next came Pam Griffin (94-24-70) and Bernadette Kilcommons (85-13-72).
SADDLEWORTH’S
Lady-Captain’s Prize, a Stableford event, was won by Denise Brown with 37 points. Deborah Cockburn (32) was runner-up.
FORMER Brookdale assistant professional Grant Hamerton finished a superb joint second in the James Brearley Lancashire Open at Blackpool North Shore.
Hamerton, professional at Pike Fold Golf Club, finished his two rounds a single shot behind the winner, Adrian Ambler of Yorkshire club Low Laithes.
