Webb’s record haul clinches Mill prize

ANGLING: THERE was a cracking finale to the Chadderton Mill AC Dave Slattery Memorial competition on the club lodge with Darren Webb creating a new record for the venue.

Drawn on peg eight, he opted for caster up in the water to catch around 20lb of ide before carp to 8lb moved in.

Webb used a polyball set-up just eight inches deep and fed four pints of caster to keep the fish interested. He was rewarded with a huge final total of 145lb 8oz.

The match-winning weight was almost double that of runner-up Dave Eastwood (76lb), who had ide up in the water and carp down the edge.


BEN Gratton topped the Socials AC match on Tyle Lodge with a 26lb 15oz net, which included chub, carp and ide on maggot up in the water.
Steve Platts was second-best again it was up-in-the-water tactics which attracted fish. He also used pellet and caster for 20lb 8oz of bream, chub, carp and roach.


CAIRO AC’s match on the Park Lake went to Pete Cuniffe with 13lb 15oz net.
He bagged skimmers and the odd roach on the long pole, hemp and caster. The runner-up was Malc Taylor, of Gilders, with a couple of small barbel. The rest of his 10lb 15oz net was made up of a skimmer and bits on maggot and caster.


MARK Eaton Dykes clinched victory in the Cranberry AC match on Pendle View.
Applying pellet on his top three kit, he had 46lb 8oz of f1s and carp to deny Steve Orr.

The runner-up emplyed chopped worm and caster at 11 and 13 metres for bream and plenty of silvers in a 14lb 8oz.


HIGHFIELD Fisheries’ Beach Lake, near Blackpool, was the venue for Lees and Hey AS’s latest match.
John Warriner was the winner thanks barbel, carp and ide up to 3lb falling to meat and corn at six metres across for a level 58lb total.

Stuart Taylor, in second place, had another good catch on maggot down the edge and at 12 metres, where he caught small f1’s ide and the odd roach. His biggest fish was 1lb 8oz and in a final tally of 40lb.


DUNLOP AC are staging a match on their club water in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. The match is on September 23. Tickets are £10 all in. To book and for further details, contact Larry on 07926 961091.
