Zero tolerance warning

CRICKET: TREAT games seriously, Saddleworth League officials have told their clubs.
The season draws to a general close on Sunday but with lots still at stake — namely the title, LCB Cup places, the last-six competition and the combined trophy — the league insists games should be played with due respect.
The final weekend often sees teams reverse batting orders and use top-order batsmen and wicketkeepers as front-line bowlers.
In a clear warning to clubs, the league has warned tomfoolery could result in punishment.
“In recent seasons some clubs have made a mockery of the fixtures and the league by not treating the games seriously,” a statement says. “Please ensure your team captains are aware of their responsibilities.
“We do not want to end up with disciplinary hearings, fines and suspensions to sort out.”
Bamford Fieldhouse, who play Northern in the LCB Cup final at Old Trafford on Sunday, could clinch the title tomorrow.
They are at home to Stayley, while second-placed Uppermill go to Austerlands.
