Host club take honours
Date published: 21 September 2012
GOLF: DRIVING rain and strong winds proved no match for charity golfers at Crompton and Royton Golf Club.
The club hosted the Joan Hirst Charity Cup and 19 teams raised £500 for Link4Pink.
The event was founded by the late Joan Hirst - former Oldham Ladies Golf Association president - and her late husband Harry, a director of the Chronicle. The couple were instrumental in setting up the Oldham Ladies’ Golf Association (OLGA), to organise competitions and events.
