Clubs fail to fulfil own expectations

CRICKET: A LAKE Garage CLL season which began with great optimism ended tamely for our four local clubs.
None managed to finish in the top eight to gain entry to next year’s Premier Division. And two finished in the bottom four, having underachieved big-time.
ROYTON finished in 10th place which, given the talent at their disposal, was a serious disappointment.
CROMPTON were one place below Royton which, given their poor first half of the campaign, was a respectable effort.
It is difficult to understand why WERNETH performed so poorly in finishing 13th - a placing that would have been worse but for Radcliffe’s 10-point deduction.
OLDHAM avoided the wooden spoon simply because they won one more game than Ashton - even though they finished on the same points.
