RODNEY CLARKE
FOOTBALL: RODNEY Clarke has brought down the curtain on a 24-year association with Midas Plumbing Oldham Sunday League by stepping down as president.
Citing a “difficult 12 months”, Clarke called it a day at a special general meeting.
Chairman Jack Bamford said: “Rodney has thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Oldham Sunday League, during which he was chairman and, for the last eight years, president.
“However, he informed all of the clubs at the meeting that he has had a difficult 12 months and announced his resignation. He will hold his title but will no longer be involved with Oldham Sunday League matters or attend meetings.”
Liaison and Respect officer Sean Kelly has temporarily taken over secretary duties from Val Broadbent, who resigned earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Royton Athletic have been reinstated in Martin Buckley Division Two, after paying off their debts from last season. Clubs voted to accept the team’s return to the same division they departed last term. “The matter is now dealt with,” said Bamford.
