CRICKET: UPPERMILL face a big fight to keep hold of their Saddleworth and District Cricket League crown on Sunday.
All eyes are on Leefields as the hosts look to bridge an 18-point gap over leaders Bamford Fieldhouse.
Because of the bonus points system, Uppermill could win the game but still finish up second in the table.
The task for Alex Griffiths’ side is huge on the last day of the season, but not insurmountable.
Victory would wrap up a pretty good week for Bamford.
Last Sunday Paddy McKeown’s side defeated Northern to lift the LCB Cup at Old Trafford.
Losing to Uppermill but winning the title won’t be good enough for Bamford, who are desperate to enter the winter recess in style.
The showdown between Uppermill and Bamford is the only Division One game on Sunday.
The other 12 teams completed their league programmes last weekend. However, due to Bamford’s LCB Cup final commitments, this match was put back seven days.
Tomorow’s Twenty20 cup finals day at Moorside has been called-off due to an unfit outfield.
