TABLE TENNIS:
HONEYWELL ‘A’ made the perfect start to the Oldham and District Table Tennis League Division One campaign with a 9-1 win over their ‘B’ team.
But the contest was closer than the scoreline suggested, with four of the 10 sets going the distance.
David Buckley and Phillip Myers recorded maximums for ‘A’ team.
Glodwick ‘A’ took their tally to 18 points from two matches with a 9-1 victory over Hollinwood ‘B’.
An excellent win for Mohammed Sagied in a five-game thriller stopped the reigning champions from having it all their own way.
In Division Two, the juniors of Hollinwood ‘D’ carried on their impressive start to the season by whitewashing Werneth ‘C’ 10-0.
Adam Thompson, Callum Allman and James Chappell put in unbeaten performances to steer Hollinwood to the top of the table.
Birley Moss made it two wins from two as they defeated Uppermill ‘A’ 8-2.
